Olivia-isms

I love that Olivia totally posed for this picture ALL. BY. HERSELF.

Olivia recently walked into the bathroom, only to come right back and stick her head out the door.
She looked at me with the look of a 16 year old and asked,
"Mom, where are the ear toothpicks?"
Me: "What? Huh? Ear toothpicks? What are those Olivia?"
Olivia: "You knooow, ear toothpicks!"
Me: "Oh, do you mean, Q-tips? Let me get you some..."

I love that Olivia refers to knives as "Sharps."
I often hear her ask, "Mom, can I use the sharp, please?"

Olivia was recently sick with the stomach flu. After throwing up about 8 times, she wanted to call Grandma and tell her about all her woes. This is what she said, "When I throw up it's funny, but when I taste the throw up in my mouth it makes me sad."

She sings Jingle Bells like this... "Jingle bells, jingle bells. Jingle all the way.
Oh what fun it is to ride in a open toppen sleigh, hey!"

Brad and I were watching Superman Returns the other night, and Olivia popped up from behind the couch, saw Clark Kent, and asked, "Is this Parry Hotter?" I love that she recognized the circle glasses, and that she referred to him as "Parry Hotter." (She's never even seen Harry Potter except for about 3 minutes worth. Too funny.)

One day after she finished watching The Incredibles, Olivia turned to me and said, "Mom, are you and me and Tagen going to have powers one day like daddy and the Incredibles?" I asked what powers Daddy had. "Oh, he's super strong. He's got powers."

Olivia might have been heard saying, "Daddy, you're fat."

We have a game with Olivia where we ask her, "Who made you smart?" She answers, Daddy.
"Who made you cute?" - Mommy.
"Who made you funny?" - Papa.
Who made you sweet?" - Grandma.
After asking her these usual questions, she turned to us and asked, "Who made me farting?" I quickly answered, "That, my dear, is ALL daddy."

Tagen takes a bath...

I think it's pretty obvious that Tagen loves taking a bath.

I rest my case.

Our Artistic child...

I have been meaning to post these pictures for a while and I'm finally getting around to it. Olivia approached me one day and said, "Mom, I'm having a party in my room. I just did my desorations (decorations). Come see!" I was a little bit confused... until I got to the door. Check out her "desorations for the party!" Very creative.....
The Bedroom door... "It says, welcome to the party Mom!"
This was on the closet door....
Don't forget the side of the door... No part went untouched!
The frame around the door... of course!
The other side of the door....
And, my personal favorite! This little smilie face was just above her bed.
She said, "That's my favorite desoration mom! He's so cute!"

Funny sidenote, as I was using a Mr. Clean eraser to wash all these off the walls today, Olivia walked in the room and said, "What have you done mom!?" I told her I was cleaning. "But mom! My desorations are gone!" Yes, they are. Maybe next time we can have "desorations" on paper, okay?

Happy Anniversary!

Brad and I had our 6th Anniversary last week. We were able to celebrate this past weekend, thanks to a wonderful and amazing sister-in-law who volunteered to stay with our kids ALL. NIGHT. LONG. It was truly a treat. Nice to be able to get away for a night, to sleep in, to wake up to an alarm clock and not a three year old staring intently at your face from two inches away, or a crying baby wanting to be fed. Just some quality time with my love. We went to Tepenyaki's for dinner. It's our favorite restaurant, and we go each year for our anniversary. Then we headed to Little America. We had a nice room in the tower with amazing views.
Our room
Nice little surprise for Brad. Chocolate covered strawberries.
A rose for me...
Sparkling cider for both of us.
A little bit of relaxing reading...
The view of the parking lot from our room.
View of the city
A little token gift from Little America.
The happy couple in a self portrait.

After we checked out, we went to Market Street Grill for breakfast. Then Brad surprised me by taking me to Pictureline and buying me a new lens for my camera. We came home to two very happy girls. Thank you to Marianne for taking such good care of our girls so we could enjoy a night together without worries.

Happy Anniversary Brad! I love you!

Our Christmas... a little late.

We had such a great Christmas. It was Tagen's first, and she's at such a fun stage of life. It was also the first Christmas that Olivia really understood what was going on. She ran into our room in the morning and exclaimed, "DAD! There's presents on our couch and under the tree! Santa was here!" She was really excited and it was pretty dang cute. We kept it real simple, but it was enough to entertain the girls. They know they are loved and that's what really matters.
I'm so glad Brad was able to capture this facial expression of Tagen's.
She was loving her presents.
Olivia had this big smile on her face for MOST of the day.
As Tagen opened this box of clothes, she took each out, one by one
and flung them over her shoulder into my lap. It was so funny.
Then she wanted to do the same with Olivia's clothes... See her eyeing the box?
Olivia showing off one of her presents. This pegboard kept both
girls entertained for a while on Christmas morning.
Olivia playing with one of Tagen's new toys. An Elmo piano.
Tagen playing with one of her new toys... a talking nursery rhyme book.
She was eyeing Olivia playing with the Elmo piano...
The piano quickly took over her attention and they decided to play together.

It was a fun morning at home. After we opened presents at home, we headed up to my parents house to meet with most of my siblings. We had dinner and exchanged gifts. We really had a good day.
