sisters...

Olivia Kate
Tagen Elizabeth

I knew there were similarities in my daughter's looks, but until I saw these
two pictures next to each other, I didn't realize just how much they look alike.
Guess the 'Douglas' gene runs pretty dominant in my family, right?
Sorry Brad... looks like we might have another "mini-me" on our hands.
I hope you're okay with that.

Getting Organized

So... While being a hermit in my house because of a newborn, I decided to do something really productive with my time.  Brad and I finally put together our long-ago-bought-shelves and organized all our food storage items on them.  Here's our end result.  What do you think?

It is so nice to have everything visible instead of in boxes or grocery sacks.  I now will have a good rotation of the food and I can see more readily what we're out of or getting low on so I can buy that stuff in my weekly grocery shopping trips.  It's a good thing we did this today, because as you might notice in the top picture, we're down to our last package of toilet paper! Ah, the blessings of being productive... Now I won't run out of that precious commodity.  It is such a good feeling to look at what I have in storage and know that if we really had to survive on what's here for a week, we easily could.  It might not be the kind of meals like we eat everyday, but we will survive and won't starve.  It feels great to follow a prophet's counsel, doesn't it?

She's Growing!!!

Tagen is growing like a weed!   I can't believe how big she is already at 6 weeks.  Brad and I were talking the other day and trying to guess how much she weighed now.  We both put her around 10 lbs.  So, the next morning, I thought I'd find out for sure.  I got on the scale with her and saw a number that I haven't seen since being pregnant.  What?!  There's no way.  I got off the scale, got back on to double check it, and there was that number again!  So, I went and laid Tagen on the bed, and got back on the scale by myself.  There was definitely a better number displayed.  I couldn't believe it!  Tagen weighs 12.5 lbs at 6 weeks old.  That means she's gained a pound a week since her two week check up.  Guess there must be lots of cream in my milk. I'm not sure how long she is, but I know she's grown that way also.  She doesn't look like a newborn anymore.  In fact, I think she looks like a 3 or 4 month old baby.  She's going to be tall like her sister is.  Olivia has ALWAYS been off the charts for her height, and Tagen was at her two week checkup. Here's a few pictures I just downloaded from the camera.
This is Grandma Marilyn Morris with Tagen on 2/28/09.  It was their first meeting,
and it looks like love at first sight for both of them.
Tagen just 'chillaxing' in her swing.  Thank goodness she loves her swing.
It is an answer to prayers for this mom so I can get some things done while she's awake.
We caught the beginning of one of her adorable smiles with the camera.
I love when she flashes her smile for me, it makes all the sleepless nights, dirty diapers, spit up and long feedings completely worth it.  She has completely stolen my heart just as her older sister did.  She's a complete joy to have around.

We're still here...

The Morris household is still standing.  We might be really sleep deprived and a little crazy, but we are still here.  The two girls have had colds this week, and we're trying to keep Tagen's from turning into RSV.  Wish us luck! Here's a couple pictures of life in our home...
Olivia telling her baby and Woody how much she loves them and to 'behave themselves.'
Tagen at 4 weeks old.  Her cheeks are filling out nicely, and her hair is falling out quickly as you can see. We're slowly getting on a more regular schedule.  At least now she wants to eat every 3 hours instead of every one or two.  We're excited about that!
